How AI Is Transforming Industries Everywhere

Hi everyone, Carlo Finotti here! As the newly appointed SVP of Service Delivery, I have the honor of bringing my vision and ideals to DataStrike. As a former client-side CIO, I have the perspective of what many organizations are looking for when it comes to their data infrastructure. With so much buzz around the latest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automations, I felt it was necessary to explain some of the things that excite me so much! Let’s break some of those things down.
The Revolution of AI and Automation
AI has become quite prevalent in recent years. This stems from sophisticated algorithms and machine learning (ML) and has changed how we interact with data in recent years. Data analysis methods that worked just five short years ago are no longer cutting it and fall short as datasets are growing more than ever before. However, as AI becomes the new standard (which is already occurring despite it being in its infancy), you will see it processing and analyzing data on an unprecedented scale. Organizations will be able to realize benefits such as recognition patterns that will help you glean insights that are more accurate, in-depth, and faster than ever before.
Machine learning (ML), a subset of AI, is another aspect that plays an integral role in this process. Thanks to its training models and new data consistently being input, algorithms are refined and ensure higher accuracy and create predictive models that will help to churn out more profit in areas never thought possible. Global conglomerates like Amazon leverage ML on their very own AWS platform to examine purchasing behavior from consumers and the products they purchase (this is a popular tactic in marketing as well for hyper-personalization, also driving more business profitability). Other popular giants like Netflix employ AI and ML to undergo analysis on users’ viewing history to provide segmented recommendations, in an effort to keep them on the platform as long as possible. For Netflix this is especially important, given their recent shift to ad-based viewing experiences, which could frustrate users into wanting to leave the platform. These capabilities offer organizations the chance to anticipate market trends before they occur, which keeps them prepared for anything.
Automation, on the other hand, complements AI by streamlining data processing tasks. Routine and repetitive tasks that once consumed significant time and resources can now be executed with remarkable speed and accuracy through automation. This not only improves operational efficiency but also reduces the likelihood of human error, leading to more reliable and consistent results.
Industries & AI
Here are just a few industries that have already seen a discernible impact as a result of AI implementation, including but not limited to:
Healthcare: In the healthcare sector, predictive analytics powered by AI is revolutionizing patient care. AI has the ability to forecast outcomes with great accuracy as a result of patient analysis. For example, AI will be able to lend a hand to doctors and nurses with patient care through more efficient diagnosing and treatments from the use of pattern detection. This can typically be done through obtaining patient medical history and undergoing exams to further understand how their body uniquely operates. AI and automation also streamline administrative tasks such as medical coding, appointment scheduling, and insurance claims processing. By reducing the administrative burden on healthcare professionals, these technologies free up valuable time and resources, allowing providers to focus more on patient care.
Finance: One sector that has experienced quite an upheaval thanks to AI is the finance world. This is thanks to AI-driven automated trading systems. These systems utilize real-time data from markets to make expedited trading decisions. This new type of trading, known as algorithmic trading, leverage processes like backtesting to cross-examine the performance of a financial strategy or model, as well as older data to ensure a more fine-tuned process. These models can leverage simple or complex strategies, including well known tactics like curating a take profit and stop loss action, relying on the existing prices of the day in conjunction with the prior day’s span. AI can analyze market trends and economic indicators and create a model emphasizing risk management. Additionally, AI-powered fraud detection systems are enhancing security in the financial industry. By analyzing transaction patterns and identifying anomalies, these systems can detect fraudulent activities with a high degree of accuracy, reducing the risk of financial losses and protecting consumer trust.
Retail: The retail world is also in an upheaval as a result of AI innovations. In retail, there is a need to merge online and brick-and-mortar shopping experiences. AI will allow for organizations to forecast consumer demand, ensuring retailers have a more systematic roadmap to gaining their trust. Automation also helps to streamline inventory management by predicting demand, optimizing stock levels, and reducing the risk of stock outs or overstocking. Some organizations are even going as far as instituting RFID tags in their products to help with this automation process, creating more seamless checkouts and streamlining inventory, as mentioned above.
Conclusion
AI and its accompanying innovations like ML and automation underscore the necessity for organizations to adapt in these changing times. Data management will require professionals who are adroit at handling AI. AI is not here to replace jobs, as many expect, rather it is here to act as an extension of your organization's workforce to drive further efficiency. Organizations who embrace the race to AI before their counterparts have a much stronger likelihood of surpassing them and sustaining that momentum.
